Witnessing the Wound- Healing through Connection, Community and Culture.
Saturday 21st April 2018
What a powerful, enlightening and colourful conference. Eugene Ellis provided a unique space for an exploration of our wounds creatively. From the moment I walked in the room, I felt the buzz of all the BAATN members around me. All of us here to share, hold, nourish, understand and witness each other in telling our stories.
Eugene researched hours of film footage and edited down to a provocative 29 minutes of African and Indian history; the impact of colonialisation and how it still stands with us today.
The title felt beautifully appropriate, individuals bravely shared their unique experiences and narratives. A sense of belonging was strongly felt, no matter what your faith, culture, religion or skin colour (to name a few). The sharedness of our history, the pain of our people connected us all.
Eugene and his team created a wonderful conference, inspiring voices to be heard, remembering our histories and making them present. It was a privilege to share this experience with my fellow BAATN brothers and sisters.
A truely exhilarating conference.
Thank you BAATN.
